MSNBC Shakeups: Joy Reid Departs Network Amid Anchor Changes

Recent reports have surfaced indicating major shakeups at MSNBC as three anchors are axed from their weekend shows, including Joy Reid. The longtime journalist, known for her show The ReidOut, is departing the network following announcements made by MSNBC’s new president, Rebecca Kulter. Culter thanked Reid for her contributions over the years, noting her recognition with esteemed honors like the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series in 2025.

With Reid’s exit, rotating anchors will be filling her 7 p.m. ET slot in the coming weeks, with Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez moving to weekdays at 7 p.m. to host a new ensemble hour of news. The ReidOut had become a staple on MSNBC since its inception in 2020, showcasing extensive interviews with politicians and public figures.

The departure of Joy Reid follows similar industry-wide reshuffles, as Lester Holt also announced his exit from NBC Nightly News after more than 10 years. Additionally, other MSNBC anchors like Ayman Mohyeldin, Katie Phang, and Jonathan Capehart are reportedly seeing changes to their weekend shows. Despite these cancellations, Mohyeldin, Phang, and Capehart will remain at the network, taking on new hosting roles.
