The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old ATM thief recognized as Adetunji Adesina, after he stole N678,000 from his latest sufferer Ehitomwan Aghama.
Adetunji who was discovered to be in possession of 10 ATM cards of assorted banks. revealed that he met Aghama on the ATM facility of one of many new era banks in Sapele Highway, Benin Metropolis.
The suspect stated he acted like he needed to withdraw cash and distracted his sufferer by dropping his telephone of the ground.
“My title is Adetunji Adesina, I’m from Oshogbi in Osun State, I met Aghama on the ATM machine of the financial institution (title withheld) in Sapele Highway, I behaved as if to say I needed to make use of the ATM machine, then intentionally dropped my telephone on the bottom, in pity he needed to assist me with the telephone.
“I punched the cardless button on the ATM machine. “I got his ATM pin number when I was pretending to help him, I later withdrew 678,000.00 from his account, using the ATM, and POS (Point of Sales) before I was arrested by the Police.”
Additionally chatting with newsmen, Aghama stated he was shocked to see that N20,000 had already been withdrawn from his account after he went to the financial institution to make a grievance of his ATM card getting caught within the machine. He additionally revealed that N600,000 which was paid into his account per week later by his brother who stays overseas, was withdrawn by the suspect as he didn’t block the ATM card.
Aghama was contacted by the police after they arrested the suspect throughout an evening patrol.
